How therapy begins
The process in detail
Starting psychotherapy unfolds in several steps. This gives us enough time to understand your concerns and your situation, to clarify the right form of treatment and to decide together what working together could look like.
01 · Getting in touch
You can contact my practice via the contact form, by email or by phone. For a first enquiry, a few brief details about your concerns are enough. I will then get back to you so that we can discuss the next steps.
02 · First consultation
In the first consultation we take time for your current situation, your questions and what brings you to psychotherapy. At the same time, you get a first impression of how I work and of the framework for working together.
03 · Initial assessment sessions
This is usually followed by several initial assessment sessions (probatorische Sitzungen), in which we get to know each other better and look more closely at your concerns. Together we clarify which form of psychotherapy and which setting might suit your situation.
04 · Deciding together
Based on these first sessions, we decide together whether continuing therapy makes sense and whether working together feels right for both of us. We also discuss the form of therapy, the frequency of sessions and how it will be paid for.
05 · Beginning treatment
Once all practical and organisational questions have been settled, therapy begins within the agreed framework. The length and frequency of sessions depend on the chosen method, your concerns and the overall circumstances.
What your next step could be is something we can clarify in a first consultation.
